Set up by Jim and Sue McLaughlin after 12 years of organising the Musicport festival and 10 years of running the Port Hole fair trade shop, Musicport offers a fantastic range of instruments and accessories, backed up by an excellent repair and aftercare service. The shop also hosts a collection of puppets and wooden toys for early years and older children, a new range of artists’ cards from Dry Red Press and, back by popular demand, carefully selected fair-trade gifts as previously stocked at The Port Hole. Many of these products will also be available online.
True to its roots in the provision of diverse music and cultural events, Musicport also supports an education programme funded by Youth Music through NYMAZ, live music workshops and master classes in the shop itself, and the wonderful Musicport Festival at Whitby Pavilion each October .
Jim and Sue are keen to bring the shop alive with performances by visiting musicians, and also welcome customers trying out the instruments to find what suits them. If what you want isn’t in stock, they will do their best to order it in for you. With plenty of space to browse and play, Musicport is a haven for musicians and for anyone seeking a special gift … whether in person, on the phone or online.
